Binn Group Expands into the Highlands

In 2025, we acquired R Finnie Skip Hire, a well-established waste management and scrap metal recycling business based in Inverness. This marked an exciting new chapter for Binn Group as we extended our geographical reach into the Highlands of Scotland.

R Finnie Skip Hire had been a trusted name in the Inverness area since 1990, operating from its base on Longman Drive. Originally founded in 1976 as a motorcycle sales company, R Finnie built a strong reputation for reliable skip hire and scrap metal services over more than three decades. We were proud to carry that legacy forward.

The 17-strong R Finnie team joined the Binn Group family, bringing our total workforce to over 140 people. Fiona Labrum, who had managed our Shore Road depot for 22 years, relocated to Inverness to take on the role of Site Manager, ensuring continuity of service and strong local leadership from day one.

Founders Robert Finnie and Carrie MacKay remained in place during the transition period to support customers and staff throughout the handover.

Guy MacGregor, Business Development Director at Binn Group, said: "This acquisition is a strategic milestone for Binn Group as we expand our geographical reach into the Highlands. Robert and Carrie have built a fantastic business, known for its quality service and loyal team — values that align closely with our own. We're excited to invest in the Inverness site and build on R Finnie Skip Hire's legacy."

Investment was made into the Highland base covering people, fleet and operational infrastructure, with new jobs created as the site developed.

We are pleased to have welcomed our new colleagues and customers in Inverness, and look forward to continuing to deliver the high standard of service the Highlands community deserves.
