Case Study: Allanhill Farm

Sector: Agriculture
Location: Near St Andrews, Fife

The situation: Allanhill Farm (Mitchell family since 1952) produces soft fruit and cereals, including around 2,000 tonnes of strawberries each year, with a strong environmental focus (reduced pesticides, woodland planting, and bee-support planting).

Binn Group’s solution: Long-term recycling and waste management support across multiple waste streams, including general waste, mixed recycling, glass, and food waste—plus dedicated servicing for the seasonal staff campsite (up to 500 workers). Collection and recycling also covers farm waste such as polythene wrap (polytunnels and beds), cardboard packaging, and scrap metal.

Outcome / impact: A sustained, multi-stream service aligned to the farm’s sustainability expectations and operational peaks.

We’ve developed a great working relationship… their prices are competitive and the service… is superb.
