Help for hoodies

SHIP hoodies from Binn

The future is looking much brighter for a Perthshire children’s charity thanks to the support of Binn Skips. Binn Skips and Allison Enterprises have jointly funded bright yellow branded hoodie tops for over 70 young volunteers with SHIP (Support, Help and Integration in Perthshire) following an appeal for help from the Perth-based charity.

The charity, which helps over 60 families where there are children with additional support needs, works to help youngsters access mainstream activities, play and sports using one-to-one volunteer/child support.

SHIP manager/co-ordinator Donna Doran explained that the new high-visibility hoodies for the young volunteers would prove ‘invaluable’.

‘We’re so grateful to Binn Skips for their support,’ she said. ‘Their sponsorship has allowed us to kit out our volunteers in warm bright yellow hoodies which are not only practical but also provide an instantly recognisable reassuring presence for the children they work with. ‘The hoodies, which have the SHIP name on the back and the sponsors’ logos on the sleeves, also attract a lot of attention from the public who ask us about the charity when they see us out and about ‘they’ve really helped to raise our profile and we can’t thank our sponsors enough.’

Binn Skips general manager Iain Taylor said their support was proving ‘worthwhile and rewarding’. ‘It’s great to see the young volunteers in their corporate charity hoodies and to know that the children they work with and the public can instantly identify them as being part of SHIP,’ he said. ‘That helps to reassure the children they support and keep them safe when they are out and about together.
‘SHIP does tremendous work with dozens of children and families across Perthshire who need that extra bit of support and we were delighted to respond positively to their appeal for help.’
